Last week I was attending a seminar to keep up with latest changes in bankruptcy law. While sitting there I started to think about my clients, about how their lives are effected by a number of different things (the economy, bills, credit card debt, the pressures of keeping a house, tuition, and on and on).
I started to think about how these people -- these really good people -- are facing some challenges that they never imagined. Many lawyers look at the file folders that surround their desks and think of the work that needs to be done to close them out. It occured to me that I no longer look at them as files but I see them as people.
Then and there I decided to change the focus of our firm. Yes we will continue to "work hard for your business" as we have for nearly 30 years. However, looking beyond the file folders, our focus will be to "help good people through bad times".
